A great day for ThinkStartup as our 6 month eHub Program with The HDFC School, Gurgaon comes to completion. The enthusiastic participation of the exceptionally talented and bright teenaged students helped us in making this program successful.
Entrepreneurship Hub (eHub) is a first of its kind education program running at scale in The HDFC School, Gurgaon where all students of Class 6, 7, 8 and 9 have been exposed to the building blocks of entrepreneurship. This constitutes:
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: This includes curiosity for creativity and innovation to identify opportunities, gathering resources to build a business, taking bearable risks and managing it, persistence in the face of adversity and being ethical to win consumers trust.
  • Entrepreneurship Knowledge and Skills: This includes building knowledge of products and services, branding, packaging, pricing, small scale operations, costs and sustainability.
  • Entrepreneurial Execution and Work Ethics: This includes developing a conscious bias for getting things done, goal clarity, being resourceful, work division, team building and collaboration, active communication
A two pronged approach to learning intervention included exposure to key concepts to students who were then given action projects where these learning were applied systematically after each session. The end result blew the minds of everyone. On the Showcase day, more than 250 students put up 79 stalls with bold and crazy ideas and managed to hold themselves in the marketplace where they had to face some tough grilling by the real customers. Eventually, they sold items worth Rs. 62,000 in just 2 hours. There were exciting prizes for most sales, best designed stall, best sales pitch and so on.
But the icing on the cake were the judges.
There were two judges of Shark Tank India pedigree – Nitish Singh, founder of Blue Tea Company, who is revolutionising the tea market and Vaibhav Makhija, Founder of What’s Up Wellness.

Another judge was an inspirational startup ecosystem enabler, Aneesha Dhar from Google, who floored the audience by offering them a visit to Google Office in Gurgaon. She was solidly supported by Mr Purnendra Kishore, Cofounder, Magadh Capital and a serial entrepreneur who grilled Grade 9 students in their startup pitch.
Speaking at the Entrepreneurship Showcase Day, Mrs Anita Makkar, Principal, The HDFC School complimented all students for their outstanding work and guided them to continue building their entrepreneurial products even as the program culminates for the Academic Year 2023-24.
We are glad that there are a few progressive schools who not only appreciate the value of modern 21st century education, but have taken genuine steps to nurture this spirit in their students.
